Grubhub has unveiled its annual culinary trends report, showcasing the foods that Americans couldn’t get enough of in 2023.

A standout trend was the nation’s overwhelming preference for chicken wings, with buffalo flavor leading the pack as the top choice among consumers. The report, which draws from an extensive analysis of Grubhub orders, confirms, “Buffalo chicken wings are the favorite, reflecting a broader appetite for spicy foods this year.”

In a statement, Elizabeth Bosone, Grubhub’s Vice President of Merchant Development and Success, remarked, “Buffalo securing the top spot as the preferred wing flavor aligns with the 2023 trend of diners embracing spicy tastes.” Bosone further noted an increase in demand for other vibrant flavors, including lemon pepper, BBQ, teriyaki, and garlic parmesan.

The Grubhub data also highlighted some unusual food pairings that gained popularity. Notably, a 33% surge in choosing pineapple as a pizza topping was observed, pointing towards a year where consumers were more adventurous with their culinary choices. “Salad accompanied by fries” emerged as another unexpected yet popular combination, with orders surpassing 600,000.

The “Delivered Report” for 2023 also shed light on the top spicy dishes of the year, with spicy potato soft tacos, spicy chicken sandwiches, spicy tuna rolls, hot and sour soup, and drunken noodles leading the charge. Another surprising trend was the significant rise in pickle orders, with an 89% increase from the previous year, totaling nearly 7 million pickles.

The event took place at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, in close proximity to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

At the age of 78, Amalija Knavs passed away on January 9. Her life was celebrated in a service that began at 10 a.m., where Melania, 53, gave a heartfelt eulogy. In her tribute, Melania spoke of her mother’s “nurturing spirit” and “unparalleled affection,” describing her as the epitome of a mother, wife, grandmother, and mother-in-law. Melania remembered her mother as a beacon of love and luxury, admiring her beauty and impeccable fashion sense, which often garnered attention.

During the seven-minute eulogy, Melania expressed her admiration for her mother, calling her an inspiration and a role model. She concluded her speech with the words, “Rest in peace, my beloved mommy.”

In 2024, the cost of postage stamps in the United States is set to increase once again. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) recently announced that the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp will rise from 66 to 68 cents, with the new rates taking effect on January 21.

The adjustment specifically applies to single stamps designed for letters weighing one ounce or less, while the additional-ounce price will remain steady at 24 cents. The decision to implement these price changes stems from ongoing inflationary pressures on operating expenses and the lingering effects of a previously flawed pricing model, as outlined in a USPS press release.

To address financial challenges and work towards the objectives outlined in its Delivering for America 10-year plan, the USPS emphasizes the necessity of these price adjustments. Approved by the governors of the Postal Service, the changes represent an approximate 2% increase in mailing services product prices.

Notably, the cost of mailing postcards, whether domestically or internationally, is also set to rise. The price for mailing international letters will increase from $1.50 to $1.55. Additionally, package shipping costs are anticipated to see a nearly 6% increase, according to reports from ABC News.

This upcoming adjustment marks the second stamp price hike within a relatively short span, following the increase from 63 to 66 cents in July of the same year. Despite these changes, previously purchased Forever stamps retain their value and may still be utilized even after the price increase.

While we may never know what happened with the supposed Wagner Group “coup” attempt in Russia against President Vladimir Putin, which failed, many are seeing the 24-hour story as another master chess move by the leader to bolster his power.

Despite the media frenzy, some media pundits are saying the supposed coup is just making Putin stronger. 

“I think that eventually what comes down here is that Putin emerges stronger, emerges more in control. I think that’s essentially what you’re going to see here. I think it’s suicidal and I think that if any threat comes to those nuclear forces, negotiations are off and they will be showing no mercy,” said Jack Posobeic on Real America’s Voice’s “Human Events Daily.” 

Another person theorized, “Let me set this time stamp. If Putin Faked the coup to dupe NATO and oust disloyal military inside Russia. Not mention dupe Ukraine into advancing thinking Russia was weak revealing their entire offensive.” 

“All while taking money from NATO 6.2 billion payout through his loyal private militia, is straight our Genius military tactic that may go down as one of the greatest moves in military history. True David and [Goliath] scene is this proves to be true,” Derek Broes wrote. 

If this is true, the failed “coup” has now made Putin even more powerful, at a time when he seeks to win his war against Ukraine.

There are no indications of chaos or uprising in any shape or form in Russia’s capital city of Moscow:

“Russia today is leading the most difficult war for its future, repelling the aggression of neo-Nazis and their handlers,” Putin said in an address, “Against us, the whole military, economic, and information machines of the West are turned.”

“Those who prepared the military mutiny, who raise weapons against combat brothers, have betrayed Russia and will pay for this,” said Putin. “And those who are being pulled into the crime, I’m asking not to make this crucial, tragic, unrepeatable mistake. Make the one right choice – stop participating in criminal actions.”
