Former Special Counsel Robert Hur recently clarified that his investigation into Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents did not result in exoneration for the president.

This statement came during a congressional hearing where Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., suggested that Hur’s report completely cleared President Biden. “So this lengthy, expensive and independent investigation resulted in a complete exoneration of President Joe Biden,” Jayapal stated. Hur, however, refuted this interpretation, emphasizing, “I did not exonerate him. That word does not appear in the report, Congresswoman.”

During the hearing, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., inquired whether Hur had concluded that Biden was “outright innocent,” to which Hur responded, “[T]hat conclusion is not reflected in my report, sir.” Hur further explained that his decision not to proceed with prosecution was based on the assessment that a conviction was not a probable outcome.

The hearing also saw Hur defending the independence of his investigation against accusations from Rep. Hank Johnson that the report was intended to undermine Biden and assist Republican efforts. Hur firmly rejected these claims, stating, “Partisan politics played no part whatsoever in my work. My work was independent.”

Additionally, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan highlighted Hur’s findings that “pride and money” might have motivated Biden’s retention of classified documents. This speculation arises from evidence suggesting Biden kept certain documents to use in his memoir, which earned him $8 million.

In a startling revelation, newly unsealed court documents suggest that former President Bill Clinton entered the Vanity Fair newsroom and allegedly “threatened” staff to prevent the publication of sex trafficking allegations against his associate, Jeffrey Epstein. The claim surfaced in an email exchange from 2011 between Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre and Daily Mail journalist Sharon Churcher.

Giuffre expressed concerns in the email, stating, “It does concern me what they could want to write about me considering that B. Clinton walked into VF and threatened them not to write sex-trafficking articles about his good friend J.E.” This accusation adds a new layer to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Epstein case.

However, former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter vehemently denied the incident, stating, “This categorically did not happen,” raising questions about the authenticity of the claim.

The released documents also name Clinton as someone who “traveled with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and may have information about Ghislane Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual trafficking conduct.” A spokesperson for Clinton referred to a 2019 statement, asserting that the former president “knows nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein pleaded guilty to and hadn’t spoken to him “in well over a decade.”

These revelations emerged alongside the second batch of court documents related to Epstein, following the initial release of more than 40 papers on Wednesday, featuring a list of prominent names linked to the late pedophile. Clinton is just one among the high-profile figures mentioned, including Prince Andrew and the late scientist Stephen Hawking.

Sources anticipate more documents to be filed, possibly on Monday, totaling 240 and naming over 170 Epstein associates, ex-employees, and victims. The documents, part of a defamation lawsuit brought by Giuffre against Epstein’s madam, Ghislaine Maxwell, in 2015, were ordered for release by Manhattan federal Judge Loretta Preska last month.

Among the shocking claims in the documents are allegations against Prince Andrew, accused of participating in an “underage orgy.” Additionally, the files include testimonies from Epstein victims, such as Johanna Sjoberg, who worked as a masseuse for the financier. Sjoberg revealed that Clinton “likes them young,” and Epstein once suggested stopping at former President Donald Trump’s Atlantic City casino.

Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee is urging an inquiry into the defunct House January 6 committee, alleging that former and current committee members intentionally concealed certain Capitol riot footage. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has initiated the release of over 40,000 hours of footage captured during the events of January 6, 2021, when protesters expressing discontent with the 2020 election outcome breached the Capitol.

Senator Lee, utilizing the platform X (formerly Twitter), questioned the integrity of former Republican representatives Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois. Lee raised doubts about their motives, asking why they never referenced the released tapes and suggesting they were engrossed in selectively leaking text messages of targeted Republicans.

In a video post accompanying his platform messages, Lee showcased footage purportedly depicting Capitol police facilitating protesters’ passage through the building on January 6, 2021.

Lee accused Cheney and Kinzinger of being complicit in hiding the January 6 tapes, contending that they share similarities with those advocating for the reauthorization of FISA 702 without reforms. He emphasized the need for an investigation into the January 6 committee.

The senator extended his criticism to the committee as a whole and its architect, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Lee questioned the extent of footage and records deliberately lost or destroyed by Pelosi and the committee, given the evidence they allegedly suppressed.

Responding to a post by Cheney featuring “some January 6th video,” Lee dismissed it as repetitive, accusing her of deliberately withholding other crucial footage. He speculated about the potential involvement of federal agents among the protesters, adding skepticism about receiving truthful information.

In another post, Lee asserted that taxpayer dollars funded the committee, characterizing it as a sham. He highlighted a released clip showing an uncuffed officer releasing a protester inside the Capitol on January 6, expressing surprise at the unprecedented scenario.

Speaker Johnson, responsible for releasing the remaining footage, emphasized his commitment to truth and transparency. He pledged to make 44,000 hours of video available to the public, allowing them to form their own interpretations rather than relying on a limited group of officials. Johnson acknowledged that approximately 5% of the footage might be withheld due to security concerns, and some faces would be blurred to protect individuals from potential retaliation.

The gradual release of the footage, managed by the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, aims to provide insight into the events of January 6, 2021, while addressing security considerations.

45th President Donald J. Trump’s Saturday rally in Pickens, South Carolina, was off the charts in terms of crowd size.

Over 50,000 people showed up for the rally, with Pickens County Police Chief Randall Beach telling the Spartanburg Herald-Journal that he “estimated tens of thousands showed up in the small city on an afternoon when temperatures reached the mid-90s,” according to Newsweek.

Chief Perkins said, “No way it was less than 50,000.” That means the crowd was over ten times the size of the entire town, which registered 3,371 residents in 2021, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

“I know the venue was full and that there were long lines to get in, but our office was tasked with providing event security, so I am not aware [of] what the official number was. As for arrests, there were zero event-related arrests,” said Pickens police Chief Deputy Chuck James to the outlet.

During the energetic rally, something unheard of by his rivals on both sides of the aisle, Trump said he would “move heaven and earth to fully secure our elections,” telling Republicans they would employ “every lawful means to win.”

The momentum continues to be on Trump’s side, with the 45th president’s polling average beating all other GOP rivals by 30.9 points, according to RealClearPolitics. He has 56 percent support in the primary, according to the latest Fox News poll, with his closest rival, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, holding a mere 22 percent.

Days after Tucker Carlson’s ouster from his Fox News hit show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, the network’s 8:00 p.m. time slot, which Carlson previously had, is struggling to keep its viewership sans the popular host. 

According to data from Show Buzz Daily, the key 25- to 54-year-old age demographic tanked significantly. 

“The program had [a] rating of 0.24 in the 25-54 age demographic, while Carlson’s show saw a 0.37 rating in the same demographic [on] April 17, the data shows. The show averaged nearly 2.6 million viewers in total, below Carlson’s show Monday, which averaged roughly 3.7 million viewers,” according to The Daily Caller. 

That’s equivalent to a plunge of 35% in viewership for the coveted 8:00 p.m. slot.

In 2020, Carlson dominated the cable news airwaves garnering a staggering four million viewers, which is “one of the highest ratings in the history of cable news, according to the outlet.” 

He had consistently been the top-rated show for the valuable 25- to 54-year-old age demographic, as the New York Times noted.

Many formerly loyal Fox News viewers have since canceled their Fox Nation subscriptions and quit watching the network following Carlson’s abrupt firing, which is likely to harm the company in the long run, with less popular hosts like Brian Kilmeade trying to fill Carlson’s gap.

In a new report released by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, the company’s chief investment officer, Lisa Shalett, is predicting a worse economic crash than the 2008 financial crisis in commercial real estate.

Shalett wrote, “Commercial real estate, already facing headwinds from a shift to hybrid/remote work, has to refinance more than half of its mortgage debt in the next two years.”

The market is facing a “huge hurdle,” with a commercial real estate decline “of as much as 40 percent worse than in the Great Financial Crisis,” she continued.

Due to pandemic-era lockdowns with companies purging office space due to the lack of need for in-person offices, empty commercial buildings remain. “Office vacancy rates have moved toward a 20-year high,” noted Shalett.

The strain on commercial real estate has been exacerbated by the March banking crisis with the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and the instability of others, such as First Republic Bank. This, mixed with the Federal Reserves’ astronomical interest rate hikes from nearly zero percent to around 4.75 percent, are fanning the flames. 

Tesla and Twitter mogul Elon Musk has also raised this same concern, writing that commercial real estate “is by far the most serious looming issue. Mortgages too.”

CNBC reported, “The vacancy rate for office buildings rose to a record high 18.2% by late 2022, according to brokerage giant Cushman & Wakefield, topping 20 percent in key markets like Manhattan, Silicon Valley and even Atlanta.”

“The solution will lie in a combination of factors. The amount of loans that come up for refinancing drops sharply after this year, and new construction is already slowing as it does in most real estate downturns, and loan to value ratios in the industry are lower than in 2006 or 2007, before the last recession.” 

Moody’s Analytics’ director of commercial real estate Kevin Fagan said, “There’s a lot of headaches about calamity in commercial real estate,” noting, “There likely will be issues but it’s more of a typical down cycle.”

On Friday, CNBC reported that the wholesale prices for companies increased 0.3 percent in November, a signal of higher inflation on the horizon. According to the report:

Wholesale prices rose more than expected in November as food prices surged, dampening hopes that inflation could be headed lower, the Labor Department reported Friday.

The producer price index, a measure of what companies get for their products in the pipeline, increased 0.3% for the month and 7.4% from a year ago, which was the slowest 12-month pace since May 2021. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for a 0.2% gain.

Excluding food and energy, core PPI was up 0.4%, also against a 0.2% estimate. Core PPI was up 6.2% from a year ago, compared with 6.6% in October.

Stocks fell following the report after previously indicating a positive open on Wall Street. Treasury yields moved higher.

The inflation numbers show that the Fed is on track for another rate increase, meaning interest rates will likely skyrocket another 0.5% to quell inflation.
Reports from Fox Business and CNN also indicated that gas prices are set to increase in the future due to global uncertainty, meaning there is a rising trend on fuel as well.
