On Thursday, 45th President Donald Trump announced Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted him in a witch hunt relating to the handling of classified documents.
He posted via Truth Social, “The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax, even though Joe Biden has 1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware, additional Boxes in Chinatown, D.C., with even more Boxes at the University of Pennsylvania, and documents strewn all over his garage floor where he parks his Corvette, and which is ‘secured’ by only a garage door that is paper thin, and open much of the time.”
In a subsequent post, he wrote, “Page 2: I have been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM. I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country, and is currently leading, by far, all Candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in Polls of the 2024 Presidential Election. I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!”
“This is indeed a DARK DAY for the United States of America,” he concluded. “We are a Country in serious and rapid Decline, but together we will Make America Great Again!”
He later said in a recorded video, “It’s just a continuation. Seven years, even after I’m out. But it’s called election interference. They’re trying to destroy your reputation so they can win an election. That’s just as bad as doing any of the other things that have been done over the last number of years and especially during the 2020 election. So I just want to tell you, I’m an innocent man, I did nothing wrong. And we will fight this out just like we’ve been fighting for seven years. It would be wonderful if we could devote our full time to making America great again. And that’s exactly what we did. But now, again, our country is in decline.”
People have responded to the news by pointing to the fact that these kinds of targeted legal attacks are common in third-world countries — not the United States — until now.
