On Thursday, amid news that Republicans had the votes to bypass frivolous witness requests by Democrats to have former National Security Advisor John Bolton and others testify, one MSNBC reporter took to the airwaves to whine about the lack of more liberal Republicans like failed presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (RINO-AZ).
In a segment, “reporter” Kasie Hunt said, “This Senate has no John McCain. There’s no John McCain.”
She brought up the health care vote, where McCain singlehandedly helped Democrats keep the socialist Obamacare “health” plan by giving a thumb down and a “no” vote to the measure. Hunt tried to reminisce the moment, saying, “It was a middle of the night moment. I’m sure a lot of our viewers can remember what that picture looks like—McCain down on the Senate floor with his thumb down—that was a surprise to Mitch McConnell.”
Hunt also bemoaned the fact that Republican voters did not want Republicans representing them who vote for Democrats, such as failed Sens. Jeff Flake (RINO-AZ) and Bob Corker (RINO-TN).
She said, “The men who were willing to stand up to President Trump—the ones who often did actually—John McCain, Bob Corker, Jeff Flake. They’re gone, okay? And the reality as to why they are gone is that they bucked this President and Republican voters said, ‘no way, we don’t want to put up with it.’ Obviously, in the case of McCain, it was a tragic loss. That was a different scenario. However, that underlying reality made bucking this Republican president politically impossible for all of these Republicans is why this is playing out the way it’s playing out”
