Sen. Murkowski still on the fence as Collins, Romney cave to radical Democrats on witness vote

All but one U.S. senator who is now sitting on the fence about calling witnesses in the impeachment trial of President Trump.

Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Willard “Mitt” Romney (R-UT) decided that they will side with socialists Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and defy President Trump.

In a statement, Collins said, “I believe hearing from certain witnesses would give each side the opportunity to more fully and fairly make their case, resolve any ambiguities, and provide additional clarity. Therefore, I will vote in support of the motion to allow witnesses and documents to be subpoenaed.”

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), however, has not yet made up her mind on witnesses. In a question to the Senate, Murkowski asked, “Why should this body not call Ambassador Bolton?”

But one senator who was on the fence has jumped off, in favor of President Trump and the need for no more witnesses. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) said in a statement, “…there is no need for more evidence to prove something that has already been proven and that does not meet the United States Constitution’s high bar for an impeachable offense.” He continued, “Our founding documents provide for duly elected presidents who serve with ‘the consent of the governed,’ not at the pleasure of the United States Congress. Let the people decide.”

Reactions to the senators’ decisions have been brutal, especially towards Romney. Human Events’ Will Chamberlain said on Twitter, “Mitt Romney is a yes on witnesses because he hates President Trump. Susan Collins is a yes on witnesses because she’s trying to hold on to her seat in a blue state. I’m ok with the latter, not the former.”

Conservative radio show host and lawyer Mark Levin wrote in regard to Collins’ vote, “Susan Collins will vote with Schiff and Schumer, and against the Constitution.  She’s a joke. Back in the good graces of the Democrat Party-media and Trump-haters.”
