Dem Debate: Bernie vehemently denies telling Warren ‘a woman can’t win’ the presidency

On Tuesday, Democrats gathered in Des Moines, Iowa for the seventh Democrat debate. During the debate, Sen. Bernie Sanders was challenged on news from earlier this week about him reportedly telling Elizabeth Warren a woman could not win the presidency in a closed-door meeting.

To the question, Sanders vehemently denied he said it, stating, “I didn’t say that.” He continued, “It’s incomprehensible that you could think I don’t believe a woman could be the president of the United States.”

When pushed further, asked point-blank, “You never told Senator Warren that a woman could not win the election,” he said he didn’t.

Warren responded saying, “I disagreed, Bernie is my friend and I am not here to fight with Bernie,” and touting the ability of women to win elections.
