Judge announces key update that could blow up Trump conviction

The judge overseeing former President Trump’s New York criminal trial informed his defense team about a suspicious comment on the court’s public Facebook page.

The comment implied that one of the jurors had discussed the guilty verdict before it was announced.

Judge Juan Merchan shared the Facebook comment with Trump’s attorneys and Manhattan prosecutors.

The comment, posted by a user named “Michael Anderson,” claimed, “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted! Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!!”

The comment was discovered on May 29, a day before Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. The profile of the commenter provided minimal information, identifying the user as “Transabled & professional sh– poster.”

A Trump campaign official mentioned they are looking into the matter. State OCA spokesperson Al Baker stated that the court notified the parties appropriately upon discovering the online content.

The six-week trial was initiated by charges from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump had pleaded not guilty to all charges.
