Pelosi snaps, accuses MSNBC host of being Trump apologist

During a recent interview on MSNBC’s “Katy Tur Reports,” former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi expressed strong opinions about the U.S. job market’s performance under President Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Pelosi contrasted Biden’s employment achievements with Trump’s record, highlighting that Biden “created 9 million jobs in his term in office” and described Trump’s tenure as having “the worst record of job loss of any president.”

The conversation took a sharp turn when host Katy Tur mentioned that Trump’s presidency was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Pelosi quickly dismissed this context, emphasizing her critical view of Trump’s performance: “He had the worst record of any president. We’ve had other concerns in our country. If you want to be an apologist for Donald Trump, that may be your role, but it ain’t mine.”

Pelosi also used the interview to discuss broader political issues, advocating for addressing legitimate public concerns about immigration, globalization, and innovation. She remarked, “I have sympathy and respect for everybody who votes…there are those who have real legitimate concerns about immigration, globalization, innovation, and what does that mean for their job and their family’s future, and we have to address those concerns, and Joe Biden is doing that.”

Additionally, Pelosi defended the legislative actions taken during her tenure as Speaker, specifically pointing to a significant economic stimulus measure: “No, but let me just say, as the Speaker of the House, we put forth a $3 trillion bill, $3 trillion of investment in communities and the rest, and that stimulates the economy.”

The interview also touched on Pelosi’s strong opposition to the possibility of a second Trump presidency, where she plainly stated, “You’ll have to forgive me. I cannot subscribe to the fact that he would be the President of the United States.”

This exchange highlights the ongoing debate about the economic legacy of the Trump administration, particularly in light of the global pandemic, and positions Pelosi firmly in defense of Biden’s policy directions and legislative efforts.
