Trump surges to record lead in latest CNN polls

In a recent poll conducted by CNN and SSRS, 45th President Donald Trump has emerged with a significant lead over Joe Biden.

This poll, which surveyed 1,212 American adults including 967 registered voters between April 18 and April 23, shows Trump ahead of Biden by six points in a direct matchup, with Trump garnering 49% to Biden’s 43%.

The gap widens further when third-party candidates are introduced into the race. In this scenario, Trump leads with 42%, followed by Biden at 33%, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 16%, Cornel West at 4%, and Dr. Jill Stein at 3%. This extends Trump’s lead to nine points overall.

Reflecting on the presidencies of both Trump and Biden, the poll indicates a shift in public perception. Currently, 55% of Americans view Trump’s presidency as a success, an increase from January 2021 when the same percentage viewed it as a failure shortly after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Conversely, Biden’s presidency is viewed less favorably, with 61% considering it a failure so far, compared to 39% who see it as a success.

The poll also highlights critical issues influencing voter sentiment, notably the economy. Among registered voters who prioritize the economy highly, 65% consider it extremely important to their vote in the upcoming presidential election—an increase from 40% in early 2020 and 46% at a similar point in 2016. This group heavily favors Trump over Biden, 62% to 30%.

Amidst his ongoing trial in New York City, Trump has been actively engaging with the public, including union workers and local businesses, while Biden has been focusing on different issues such as abortion, highlighted by his recent visit to Florida related to a state ballot initiative.

These polling results and the actions of both political figures are stirring discussions as the presidential race heats up, reflecting a highly polarized and dynamic political environment.
