Trump squishes Haley like a bug in New Hampshire

In the Tuesday New Hampshire primary, 45th President Donald Trump was poised to solidify his position as the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee for the third straight election. His main competitor, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, faced an uphill battle, with polls showing her significantly trailing behind Trump.

Trump’s dominance in the GOP primary was evident, with expectations set not on whether he would win but rather on the margin of his victory. A triumph for Haley was seen as highly unlikely, and the focus shifted to whether she could narrow the gap with Trump to a slim margin. Haley’s performance in New Hampshire was crucial for her campaign, as a significant defeat could potentially lead to her withdrawal from the race. The former governor had already decided not to compete in the Nevada caucuses, instead focusing on the U.S. Virgin Islands caucuses and the upcoming South Carolina primary.

As voting progressed, the situation at Haley’s headquarters seemed increasingly grim. Despite her campaign manager’s optimism, the reality of her slim chances became apparent. The critical factor was whether Haley could finish within single digits behind Trump. However, Trump’s lead expanded comfortably into double digits, dampening Haley’s hopes for a narrow loss.

Notably, Haley faced significant challenges in South Carolina as well, with Trump enjoying substantial support from influential political figures in the state. The polls indicated an even more considerable lead for Trump in South Carolina compared to New Hampshire and Iowa, casting further doubt on Haley’s path forward.

On the Democrat side, President Joe Biden, not listed on New Hampshire’s ballot due to a dispute over the primary date, faced challenges from Rep. Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson. Biden supporters initiated a write-in campaign to bolster his position against these challengers. The primary’s outcome would be indicative of Biden’s strength in the face of internal party challenges.

As the New Hampshire primary results trickled in, Trump’s victory became increasingly evident, with a substantial lead over Haley. Major Republican donors began rallying behind Trump, further solidifying his position as the GOP frontrunner. Senator Marco Rubio’s remarks underscored this sentiment, suggesting that any financial support for Haley beyond this point would be futile.

Haley’s defiant stance, despite the overwhelming odds, was met with criticism. Her speech, which appeared disconnected from the reality of her electoral performance, was viewed as a denial of the clear message from GOP voters. Trump, on the other hand, didn’t hesitate to call out Haley’s unrealistic assertions, emphasizing the decisiveness of his victory.

The New Hampshire primary, thus, not only fortified Trump’s position within the Republican Party but also signaled the beginning of a challenging path for Biden within the Democrat ranks. The outcomes of these primaries set the stage for intense political battles ahead, both within and between the major parties.

    1. I would call her a fake Republican fueled by Democrats and someone who would morph immediately into a swamp creature in the unlikely event she would be elected. But she certainly will not get any votes from Trump’s legions, so getting elected is impossible for her.

  1. Haley has played the flip flop game more often than not.. She has earned the name “Halfwit Haley” for a reason. RINO should be on her signature

  2. ANNETTE JANE CASTILLO

It’s obvious the people still want Trump. We were cheated out of the 2020 election and are going to make it apparent that he is still the winner and even more so! Anyone who believes that a president can win an election when he can’t even fill a parking lot, is delusional.
