Trudeau flips out on ‘right-wing, American MAGA’ for woes in Canadian Parliament

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Conservative Party of abandoning Ukraine, attributing it to the influence of right-wing rhetoric, particularly the MAGA conservatives in the United States. The accusations came after the Conservatives unanimously voted against updating the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement.

Trudeau expressed his disappointment, stating, “I’ve actually boasted… that it’s not a political debate in Canada, all parties in Canada stand with Ukraine.” He highlighted the concern over the rise of right-wing rhetoric, echoing MAGA sentiments, influencing political decisions.

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre clarified that their vote against the agreement was not due to a lack of support for Ukraine but stemmed from concerns about imposing a carbon tax on the war-torn country. Trudeau dismissed this explanation as an “absurd excuse” and attributed the move to the influence of right-wing ideologies.

Trudeau warned about the danger of this right-wing influence, emphasizing that it has caused Canadian Conservatives, who were once strong supporters of Ukraine, to shift their stance. He expressed concern over the abandonment of principles in support of international rules and alliances.

Poilievre maintained that the Conservative Party’s opposition to the agreement was rooted in their understanding of the potential negative impact of carbon taxes. The trade agreement contained provisions related to coordinating on carbon pricing and measures to mitigate carbon leakage risks.

The Fox News report highlighted the section of the agreement committing both parties to address mutual interests, including promoting carbon pricing. Trudeau’s concerns extended beyond the specific issue, emphasizing the broader implications of the Conservative Party’s shift in stance on international relations.

Despite the differing explanations, Trudeau and Poilievre’s statements underscore the political tensions surrounding the trade agreement and its potential ramifications for Canada’s stance on global issues.

  1. Oh my, he is scared of conservatives and blames it on MAGA people in the US? People are starting to see through this self serving so called leader of Canada.
He is an idiot and hopefully will be replaced with someone that has Canada’s best interest in mind.
