Marine vet charged in subway death sees massive legal defense fund surge

A legal defense fund for U.S. Marines veteran Daniel Penny, who applied what turned out to be a fatal choke hold on a homeless man, Jordan Neely, who was threatening passengers on a New York City subway, is seeing an outpouring of support as he’s charged with second-degree manslaughter.

“His lawyers, Thomas Kenniff and Steven Kaiser, launched the campaign Tuesday on the Christian crowdfunding site GiveSendGo, which raised $1,097,282 as of Saturday afternoon and surpassed  $1.5 million as of Sunday morning,” reported Fox News.

Kenniff said, “The outpouring of generosity and support for Daniel Penny, is beyond anything we could have imagined,” adding, “Daniel is incredibly grateful for the support of so many New Yorkers.”

Penny’s lawyers have stated he acted to protect himself and others on the train after the unhinged Neely threatened to shoot and kill passengers.

“He said, ‘I don’t care. I’ll take a bullet, I’ll go to jail’ because he would kill people on the train,” a 66-year-old witness said of Neely’s tirade. “He said, ‘I would kill a motherf—er. I don’t care. I’ll take a bullet. I’ll go to jail.’”

“Any proceeds collected which exceed those necessary to cover Mr. Penny’s legal defense will be donated to a mental health advocacy program in New York City,” a statement from Penny’s attorneys said.

  1. We need to support the brave men and women who are fighting for life liberty and the American way on our very own soil.

  2. When you come across a rabid skunk you kill it. You can’t talk to it or reason with it or appeal to it’s better nature. Put it down and bury it deep so nothing else is infected.
Life is hard. But it’s harder if you’re stupid.
