Biden blinks, asks McCarthy to negotiate debt limit after stonewalling

After days of tension, Joe Biden finally asked House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to negotiate the debt limit during a May 9. The move contradicted the White House’s previous position of not budging.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Thursday, “We are not negotiating on this,” adding, “We’ve been very clear on this.” Now, the tone has changed.

Breitbart reported, “While traveling in Israel, McCarthy received a call from Biden to schedule a meeting to negotiate raising the debt limit after days of stonewalling tactics.”

Punchbowl News reported, “McCarthy also secured an extremely useful talking point. No matter how right-leaning and unrealistic the 320-page package is, House Republicans are the only ones to have passed legislation to lift the nation’s borrowing cap. McCarthy plans now to sit, pat and slam Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for doing nothing and … Joe Biden for refusing to negotiate.”

McCarthy said Biden “can no longer put this economy in jeopardy. We have lifted the debt limit, we have done our job, we are the only body that passed anything” after the U.S. House voted on the measure.

Now, as the government is set to shut down, Biden is finally ready to have discussions with Republicans after stonewalling.

  1. It is about time NM voted to support the Convention of States to join other states to force a balanced budget (financial responsibilty). Then this sort of stuff would be mute.

  2. Not only no, but HELL NO. This might be painful to foreign governments dependent upon foreign aid, but they hate U.S. anyway. Defense contractors? The bigwigs might feel some pain because of no bonus for the next forever years, but the taxpayers won’t be buying any $600 toilet seats or hammers at $750. There should be some adjustments on welfare and work requirements. And any assistance should only go to citizens period – no exceptions. There are 35 to 40 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS in America today – an unsustainable burden on taxpayers that must be stopped.
    SEAL OUR BORDERS
    NO AMNESTY
    NO DEALS
SELF DEPORT OR GO TO JAIL
HIRE ILLEGALS AND GO TO JAIL
Babies born to illegals are NOT CITIZENS and never have been. No more rewarding illegal behavior, or birth tourism. We can use computers to our advantage and track down every illegal and birth tourism baby born here in the past 60 years – they are NOT U.S. CITIZENS no matter what stupid dimmoKKKraps say. They are citizens of the country their parents are from, and are due no benefits from America. The trillion dollar annual cost of illegals can be used at first to deport illegals and after that on our infrastructure.

Immigrate legally and you’re welcome here.

Jump the border and we will hunt you down like the criminals you are.
