New details revealed about Tucker Carlson’s Fox News split

According to a new report from Mediaite, longtime animosity between Fox News’ executives and Tucker Carlson, who was fired from his hit show Tucker Carlson Tonight Monday, motivated the split between the network and the popular host.

“Tucker Carlson’s ouster from Fox News was officially decided in a Friday night conversation between Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott,” the report reads.

The Wall Street Journal reported, “Mr. Carlson, whose contract was renewed in 2021, will be paid out for the rest of his contract, people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Carlson is paid about $20 million a year, one of the people said. Mr. Carlson found out he was being let go about 10 minutes before the network announced his departure, the people said.”

The Mediaite report notes that Carlson had become a “pariah” at Fox News following his “penchant for internal pot-stirring” and January 6 coverage that executives did not necessarily support.

But what was aired on Fox News regarding the matter was a different story, with host Harris Faulkner saying to viewers, “We have some News from within our Fox family. Fox News media and Tucker Carlson have mutually agreed to part ways,” adding, “We want to thank Tucker Carlson for his service to the network, as host and prior to that as a long-term contributor.”

But the New York Times notes, “No one so high-profile has exited Fox News so suddenly and unexpectedly since the tumultuous period at the network in 2016 and 2017, when Roger Ailes, the chief executive, and Bill O’Reilly, Fox’s biggest prime-time star, were fired.”

It is unclear what Carlson’s next moves will be, as he has remained silent since the ouster from his wildly successful hit show that garnered around three million viewers on average nightly.

  1. Foolish move by Fox News, just another move to the Left. Obviously no concerns about what the viewers want and watch. Bye-bye Fox News and Fox Nation. This latest move was the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back” for me.

  2. Tucker was thee only thing I watched, on the shifting show! I knew it would come! But he’s going to land on his feet! He always did a great job! I really believe they will regret this bad move:( but he will be just fine! U gooo Tucker! You’ve got this! You are very loved by so many, because you spoke truth!

I am done with fox news as it continues it’s left ward move. Tucker spoke the truth as he challenged the towers of power. There is little difference between CNN, NBC,ABC,CBS,CNBC ETC. !!! Andy

  4. I will cancel “Fox Nation” today. You can’t stop people from knowing the truth…. Tucker was one who did speak truth…. Fox you have totally disappointed me with what you have been doing these last few years…..

  5. Isn’t Paul Ryan at FOX? Wonder if he favored the lost of Tucker and Dan? No such thing as “coincidences”. The two strongest “Truth Tellers” gone in the same week?

  6. The more they move to the left, the more I move to Newsmax and other outlets online or world news in other countries. It’s up to them to decide whether they want to lose millions of viewers. You’d better think about it long and hard execs at Fox News. You will be the biggest losers if you decide to move further left.

  7. My wife and I really liked Tucker Carlson and agree with some of the other comments about him and Fox moving towards the liberal side of the news. It takes guts to do what Mr. Carlson was doing. Big mistake in letting him go.
