On Saturday after the Iranian government took responsibility for the downing of a Ukrainian plane, which killed 176 people, including the crew, frustrated Iranians took to the streets, demanding the country’s supreme leader (Ayatollah) Khamenei resign. Some even chanted “death to Khamenei!” 86 Iranians were on board the downed plane.
The rioters were angered by the government’s initial coverup, and the aggression shown by the government, especially in recent months.
MSNBC reports, “‘Commander-in-chief (Khamenei) resign, resign,’ videos posted on Twitter showed hundreds of people chanting, in front of Tehran’s Amir Kabir University.”
The protesters also targeted the propaganda state-run media for helping in the cover-up of the deadly plane attack.
