‘Deadbeat’ socialist AOC ticks off fellow Dems by refusing to pay her bills

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been racking in millions for her campaign committee but refuses to give a dime of the $250,000 she owes in “dues” to the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. The decision to skip on paying her bills has angered some of her Democrat colleagues.

One colleague, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), said, “Sometimes the question comes: ‘Do you want to be in a majority or do you want to be in the minority?’” He also added, “and do you want to be part of a team?”

Another colleague did not hold back about the socialist freshman congresswoman, saying, “Deadbeat Cortez should pay her bills…. She’s always whining about people paying their fair share and here she is leaving her friends with the bill.”

But AOC skipping on paying her dues is no coincidence — AOC has beef with the DCCC. She bashed the committee in an interview earlier this week, claiming it supports “tea party” Democrats. 

She said, “For so long, when I first got in, people were like, ‘Oh, are you going to basically be a tea party of the left?’ And what people don’t realize is that there is a tea party of the left, but it’s on the right edges, the most conservative parts of the Democratic Party. So the Democratic Party has a role to play in this problem, and it’s like we’re not allowed to talk about it. We’re not allowed to talk about anything wrong the Democratic Party does.” 

According to Fox News, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, “For me personally, I’m not paying D-trip dues,” using slang for the DCCC and citing a “myriad of reasons.”

She continued, “One, I don’t agree with the policy around blacklisting groups that help progressive candidates,” she said, referring to a DCCC effort to sideline vendors who assist challengers to members of Congress. “I think we need to evolve as a party and make room for that.” The freshman congresswoman also wrote about the issue on Twitter. 

Higher-profile members have higher dues, such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has a goal of $1 million She has already paid $900,000 of that, according to her October report. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer paid $600,000 of his $900,000 dues and Majority Whip James Clyburn paid $350,000 of his $800,000.
