New York Times piece claims sunshine is racist

On Tuesday, the New York Times wrote up an article focused on Los Angeles and the vast “income inequality” in the city, with some people riding the bus, and others driving their Teslas up to their $225 million Bel Air estates. The culprit: climate change and racism, of course!

Instead of embracing The Golden State’s iconic sun rays, the city of Los Angeles is treating the sun as a “growing crisis,” where shade is apparently a “precious commodity.” Naturally, Los Angeles liberals are blaming hot days on “climate change,” where resources are going to ripping out palm trees from the ground to put more shady alternatives and adding shade to bus stops.

The article writes a sob story about an “elderly Angelino” who stands at the bus stop near no trees, compared to wealthy Beverly Hills millionaires with trees lining canopied streets.

“The lack of trees in some poorer communities is also connected to a history of abusive policing. For years, the city kept tree growth to a minimum in some neighborhoods because police officers were worried that trees could be places to stash drugs and guns,” the article says. So sunshine is racist because if trees were planted in low-income areas, (such as some fictitious bus stop in East LA), then thugs would stash guns in the hedges, and the “abusive” police would target the areas.

Just as you thought you’d read it all, now the City of Angels is spending millions of dollars to plant trees in low-income areas to fight racism and climate change, a double whammy!
