Google, YouTube censored over 300 Trump ads for ‘violating policies’

According to reports by 60 MInutes, President Donald Trump’s campaign has had over 300 of its ads, including video advertisements taken down in recent months for “violating policies.”

When asked about the censorship, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said that there were “ads of President Trump that were not approved to run on Google or YouTube.”

Wojcicki claimed that “Our systems, our algorithms, they don’t have any concept of understanding what’s a Democrat, what’s a Republican. They don’t have any concept of political bias built into them in any way. And we do hear this criticism from all sides.”

When pressed about conservatives being censored on her platform, she defensively made the case that “there are lots of very successful conservative creators on YouTube,” despite dozens being censored off of the platform each and every day.

To further back up her claims, Wojcicki said, “We also have people who come from more liberal backgrounds who complain about discrimination. And so I think that no matter who you are, we are trying to enforce our policies in a consistent way for everybody.”
