After eight teens have been hospitalized with “severe lung damage,” President Trump called on the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to ban all flavored vapes, in the name of safety for children.
“Not only is it a problem overall, but really specifically with respect for children,” said President Trump.
Today, the e-cigarette manufacturer Juul announced it would suspend sales of its popular fruity flavors vapes ahead of the Trump policies implementation of these FDA rules.
Austin Finan, a Juul spokesman said, “We continue to review our policies and practices in advance of FDA’s flavor guidance and have not made any final decisions,” and “We are refraining from lobbying the administration on its draft flavor guidance and will fully support and comply with the final policy when effective.”
Although there is a halt in sales of Juul’s fruity vape flavors, the cease of sales is not permanent, and the company will continue to develop scientific evidence to continue the use of their product.
