Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro has intensified his response to ongoing protests by accusing opposition leader María Corina Machado and presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia of instigating “criminal violence.” This move comes as Venezuelans took to the streets for a second consecutive day, protesting what they claim is a fraudulent election.

Protesters are demanding the release of voting data from the contentious election held on Sunday, which Maduro claims to have won. The unrest has resulted in at least 16 deaths across Venezuela, including one soldier, according to human rights group Foro Penal and hospital reports.

Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly and a close ally of Maduro, has called for the arrest of Machado and González, labeling them as “fascists” and declaring that the government will not negotiate with them. Rodríguez’s statements mark a significant escalation in the government’s crackdown on dissent.

The situation deteriorated further on Tuesday when masked individuals forcibly abducted opposition leader Freddy Superlano and two members of his team in Caracas. This incident adds to the already volatile environment as Maduro’s government continues to resist calls for transparency.

Amid these tensions, Machado and González have criticized the government’s refusal to acknowledge their claims of electoral fraud. Machado, addressing a crowd outside the U.N. mission in Caracas, declared, “We will defend every vote, and we will make sure the regime recognizes what the whole world knows.” She insisted that González is the rightful winner of the election, urging supporters to remain peaceful.

González, in a message to the armed forces, called for an end to the repression of peaceful protests. “There is no reason to repress the people of Venezuela,” he said, emphasizing the need for the military to respect the will of the voters.

The protests have seen thousands of Venezuelans—many from once-supportive working-class neighborhoods—marching through the capital. Some protesters carried receipts and voting records, which they claim demonstrate González’s victory. A large banner waved by supporters read, “Let’s go with the truth and without violence,” reflecting the sentiment of many who feel disenfranchised by the current regime.

In response to Maduro’s electoral claims, independent analyses have contradicted the official results. A Caracas-based group, using a sample from 971 voting centers, estimated González received 66% of the vote compared to Maduro’s 31%. Additionally, Edison Research, which surveyed 6,846 voters at 100 polling sites, found similar results.

Calls for Maduro to release the voting records have been supported by the U.S. and several Latin American countries. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva emphasized the need for transparency, stating, “How do you resolve this dispute? Presenting the voting records.”

However, Maduro’s allies—including Russia, China, and a handful of Latin American nations—continue to support his regime. Meanwhile, in Venezuela, protests have escalated, with demonstrators clashing with security forces. The National Guard responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, leading to further injuries and arrests.

Amid the turmoil, Venezuelan authorities have ramped up security measures, and pro-government groups have been accused of obstructing opposition rallies. The government’s aggressive stance and the international community’s divided response highlight the deepening crisis in Venezuela.

As protests continue, Maduro remains defiant, promising to “face these situations and defeat the violent ones.” The ongoing unrest reflects the broader struggle for democracy and transparency in a country plagued by political and economic turmoil.

María Corina Machado, a prominent Venezuelan opposition leader, revealed that her team has established a parallel electronic vote counting system, asserting that Edmundo González Urrutia, not socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro, was the true winner of Sunday’s elections. This announcement comes amid heightened tensions and accusations of electoral fraud.

Machado highlighted that her team had been working tirelessly since Sunday evening, saying, “From yesterday at six in the afternoon, it’s been 24 hours of uninterrupted work. The regime slept worried. We didn’t sleep.” She explained that the opposition’s web-based system allows citizens to verify their vote by entering national identification numbers or searching for specific polling stations.

According to Machado, with 73% of votes counted, the results indicated that González Urrutia had won across all Venezuelan states. “The difference was in all the states of Venezuela. In all states, in all sectors,” Machado claimed, noting that “world leaders” were already accessing the results through their portal.

González Urrutia, who has been supported by Machado’s team, expressed confidence in the results. “We have in our hands the records that show our categorical and mathematically irreversible triumph,” he said, extending gratitude to the international community for its “solidarity and support.” He emphasized the importance of fighting for freedom, stating, “A free people is a people that commands respect, and we are going to fight for our freedom.”

In contrast, Venezuela’s National Electoral Council reported early Monday that incumbent President Nicolás Maduro had secured 51.2% of the vote with 80% of ballots counted, granting him a third consecutive term. The official results attributed 44.2% of the vote to González Urrutia.

The Venezuelan government, under Maduro’s leadership, has faced criticism for its handling of a severe economic and humanitarian crisis, which has been exacerbated by U.S.-led sanctions. Maduro’s administration has also been accused of significant human rights abuses, including torture and extrajudicial killings.

Amid these developments, Machado reported that armed individuals were present at the Argentine embassy in Caracas. “We have received reports of armed, hooded people” and police at the embassy’s entrance, she said. This situation follows the asylum requests made by six of Machado’s aides in March, who were facing arrest warrants for conspiracy. The Venezuelan government had denied their exit from the country.

Pedro Urruchurtu Noselli, one of the aides, posted on social media that Venezuelan security forces appeared to be planning an entry into the embassy around 6:45 p.m. local time.

Machado, despite winning the opposition primary, has been barred from running for office due to her alleged involvement in attempts to persuade the U.S. to impose sanctions on Venezuela and her support for a potential military intervention in the country.

Cuba, China, and Russia have all congratulated Maduro, while Brazil’s far-left government has been mum on the dictator stealing the election from the Venezuelan people.

After President Trump’s Justice Department indicted illegitimate Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro for drug trafficking (narco-terrorism) by posting a $15 million reward for his capture, Maduro clapped back at the President.

In the indictment, Attorney General Barr said, “While the Venezuelan people suffer, this cabal lines their pockets with drug money and the proceeds of their corruption.” He added, “As alleged, the Maduro regime is awash in corruption and criminality.”

Now, Maduro is fighting back, claiming President Trump is a “racist cowboy” during a televised address. He also said, “You are a miserable human being, Donald Trump.”

“If one day the imperialists and Colombian oligarchy dare to touch even a single hair, they will face the Bolivarian fury of an entire nation that will wipe them all out.”

The empty threats come as the weak socialist country, crippled by U.S. sanctions and its oil reserves, is hurting, especially as Saudi Arabian OPEC has flooded the market with cheap oil.
