Over the weekend, 45th President Donald Trump made an unexpected visit to Sneaker Con in Pennsylvania, eliciting a range of reactions from the attendees.
The event, dubbed “The Greatest Sneaker Show On Earth” by its organizers, saw Trump taking the stage in Philadelphia amidst an energized crowd of mostly support.
During his roughly 10-minute speech, Trump unveiled a pair of gold, custom Trump-branded sneakers, now being offered in a limited edition for $399. Check out the website for the sneakers here.
“There’s a lot of emotion in this room,” Trump remarked, highlighting the unprecedented turnout for the event. “They have lines going all around the block. They’ve never seen anything like this one.”
Trump expressed his long-held desire to launch such a product, praising his team for their creativity. “This is something I’ve been talking about for 12 years, 13 years, and I think it’s going to be a big success,” he said.
The 45th president also mentioned the positive reception from “influencers” towards the sneakers, which are set for pre-order and produced by CIC Ventures, the creators of the Trump trading cards.
“That’s the real deal,” Trump stated, showcasing the shoes to the audience.
He encouraged the crowd to vote, promising swift changes for the country. At one point, chants of “USA, USA, USA” erupted among the attendees.
Sneaker Con, a global gathering of sneaker enthusiasts since 2009, faced criticism for hosting Trump. In response, the event organizers issued a statement reiterating their commitment to promoting sneaker culture while disabling comments on their social media posts regarding the matter.
Trump’s visit to the key battleground state followed a significant legal setback in New York, where he was prohibited from managing his business for three years and found liable for substantial damages in a civil fraud case led by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The blatantly flawed ruling by a fringe leftist judge will likely die on appeal.
