AOC is not happy people think a hilarious parody account is really her

A parody Twitter account mocking socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is gaining steam, with hilarious tweets that some thought the far-left representative really made.

One of the most viral tweets the account, with the handle @AOCpress authored, read, “This might be the wine talking, but I’ve got a crush on @elonmusk.” The tweet went viral, and Elon Musk replied with a fire emoji on May 29.

“The tweet has been viewed more than 26 million times, according to Twitter’s metrics, and has more than 60,000 likes,” NBC News reported.

Following the tweet going viral, AOC wrote on Twitter, “FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility. It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.”

A later tweet by the @AOCpress account on June 1 read, “People say I’m thin-skinned for wanting to shutdown the @AOCpress parody account for making fun of me.  Let me be perfectly clear, I am not thin-skinned. Again, I am NOT thin-skinned.  One more time … I. AM. NOT. THIN-SKINNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The account has over 362,000 followers as of publication. In 2018, when the account started and was subsequently suspended by then-Twitter chief Jack Dorsey, it had 85,000 followers.
