In response to the explosive report released by Special Prosecutor John Durham regarding the Russia hoax leveled upon President Donald Trump, U.S. House Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) floated bouncing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) from Congress.
Through the years, Schiff erroneously made claims that Trump colluded with Russia — all fabrications, as proven by the Durham report.
McCarthy said Tuesday, “It raises the question about Adam Schiff. Remember when Adam told the American public he had proof? Remember when he said he didn’t know the whistleblower?
“What he put America through when he openly lied to us,” McCarthy said. “It raises questions about his character and whether he should be in Congress.”
It is unclear if McCarthy will use the power vested in him to suspend or expel Schiff from the chamber. The far-left California lawmaker is currently in a battle for California’s U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Dianne Feinstein at the end of her current term.
“If you’re concerned about threats to our democracy, you are right to be angry over the coordinated campaign to lie to the American public for years about Russia collusion—peddled at the highest levels of government, from Adam Schiff to the DOJ—to try to influence an election,” McCarthy wrote in a recent tweet.
