It was not too long ago when 2020 Democrat presidential contender South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg called all President Trump supporters racist on the debate stage back in September.
He previously said Trump supporters are “looking the other way on racism,” in an August interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. Buttigieg has repeatedly branded Trump as a “white nationalist.”
Now, the young mayor is apparently trying to backtrack on his divisive message, now saying “You can’t love the country if you hate half of the people in it.”
It looks like some supporters were not too thrilled with Buttigieg’s comments:
These comments come after Buttigieg has been peddling a false narrative that somehow Vice President Trump hates him for being gay, despite Pence’s silence on the subject.
In response to Buttigieg’s publicity stunts to brand Pence as gay, the Vice President said, “He knows better. He knows me.” a very measured response to the South Bend mayor’s targeting.
Buttigieg’s latest comments come as the Democrat presidential field thins out, with Rep. Tim Ryan dropping out this week.
