Trump Victory made 1.5 million calls in a single day to give voters info about COVID-19 resources

Although political campaigns have hit a wall in fundraising due to the coronavirus pandemic, Trump Victory is shifting its ground-game efforts from on-the-ground campaigning to 100% virtual.

A few weeks ago, Trump Victory held its fourth “National Day of Action” for 2020, in which the Trump Campaign/Republican National Committee partnership made 1.5 million calls in a single day. The calls were not necessarily political, mainly focusing on reaching people to give them information about resources to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Calls also included information about the Trump Administration’s response to the coronavirus, such as President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force leading an unprecedented, comprehensive, and aggressive whole of America approach to slow the spread of the virus.

If a person did not physically answer their phone with a call from a volunteer, a voicemail with a recording from Lara Trump was left, giving them information about where they can find coronavirus resources.

“Hi, this is Lara Trump. I am calling to give you an important update on President Trump’s response to COVID-19, the Coronavirus, and provide important information on how you can help slow the spread of the coronavirus as we all work together to keep America safe. Together, we can stop the spread of Coronavirus by practicing social distancing, good hygiene, and make sure to wash your hands. Please stay safe and follow the directions of your state and local authorities. You can find more information by visiting: CORONAVIRUS.GOV. This National Day of Action followed a Virtual National Week of Training where the Trump Victory team held hundreds of Trump Victory Leadership Initiative (TVLI) trainings in virtual settings to train volunteers on in-home call applications and ways to continue to engage with voters virtually.

According to a Trump Victory spokesperson, “TVLI trainings are the RNC’s signature training program, designed to facilitate rapid volunteer growth and focus on spreading the campaign’s and the Party’s message to every community across the country.”

“With our ability to engage with voters virtually and digitally, Trump Victory is not missing a beat, and we continue to be full steam ahead to November,” said RNC Chief of Staff Richard Walters.

The RNC and Trump Campaign already have 550,000 trained and activated volunteers working to ensure a Republican victory in November all the way down the ballot.

On Thursday, it was reported by Fox News that the Trump Campaign had anonymously donated meals to American hospitals working around the clock to care for patients, despite the word getting out that the campaign had been conducting such activities.

The combined efforts by the RNC and the Trump Campaign is bolstered by record-breaking fundraising success (over $87M in February alone, with over $613M raised year-to-date and over $231M cash-on-hand). The RNC and Trump Campaign boast the largest data-driven ground game in party history.
