WaPo: The Russians are trying to help Bernie win the White House in 2020

On Friday, the Washington Post reported that presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was briefed on information showing that his campaign is being assisted by Russia to help him win in 2020.

Sanders disavowed Russia’s help, saying in a statement, “I don’t care, frankly, who Putin wants to be president. My message to Putin is clear: stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that you do.”

Sanders admitted that he was briefed about a month ago about Russia’s attempts, saying he was “told Russia and other countries” were interfering in the elections.

Sanders addressed reporters on the Post’s story, saying, “What I say to Mr. Putin, If elected president, trust me, you will not be interfering in American elections.”

In 1988, Sanders honeymooned in the Soviet Union, as reported by the Washington Post, which shaped his personal and political views.
