SCOTUS allows Trump Admin. to implement income-based restrictions on immigration

On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a written order granting the Trump Administration’s emergency request to nullify an order by a federal appeals judge blocking immigration restrictions while the case was ongoing.

The court decided on a 5-4 margin the rule, mandating that “foreigners seeking immigration status in the U.S. generally have to show they have enough financial resources to keep them from relying on government programs that assist poor Americans,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

The rule is a major win for President Trump’s administration, to ensure immigrants have the financial resources they need to be successful in the United States and endure they can provide for themselves without relying on federal help, such as Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), and other programs.

President Trump’s win comes after the Trump Administration diverted $7.2 billion to build hundreds of miles of border wall, in another step to curb illegal immigration.
