The New York Times interviewed many of the leading 2020 Democrats running for their party’s nomination for president, asking them a variety of questions. But one question, in particular, produced some of the most cringe-worthy answers yet, and it’s hard to watch without a chuckle.
The newspaper asked 2020 Democrats who their “celebrity crush” is, a controversial question, but one that many candidates did not mind answering. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) answered, “Prince.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), awkwardly answered, “The Rock! Come on—just look at that man—he’s eye candy.”
Andrew Yang answered, “I’m a happily married man. I think my wife’s a star, and I’ve got a big crush on her…. Crushing on you, Evelyn.” South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg answered, “Not for the New York Times to know about.”
Billionaire and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “My favorite actor and actress Laura Dern and William Macy who starred in a movie that I produced.”
Billionaire activist Tom Steyer answered, “Alicia Keys is a fantastic artist and a really good person.”
Let’s just say the New York Times seems to have declined to such a rapid level that it appears it is competing with BuzzFeed and other low-level “news” outlets for attention.
