After ‘honoring’ deceased Coby Bryant, Alicia Keys hits Trump at Grammys

On Sunday, celebrities gathered to honor Hollywood’s leading recording artists at the 2020 Grammy’s, held at Staples Center.

The event was tinged with sadness, with news of NBA legend Coby Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter perishing in an airplane crash. The Staples Center is home to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team Bryant played for and won national championships for.

Recording artist Alicia Keys took the stage to honor Bryant, saying, “We’re literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe built.”

But after making these remarks, Keys got political, bashing President Trump and praising rapper Cardi B in a song. She sang, “Commander in chief impeached, y’all get out. Let’s bring Cardi B in.”

Cardi B is reportedly trying to apply for Nigerian citizenship, in resistance, although she considered a run for office.

The “Cardi B Fanclub” shared Keys’ anti-Trump lyrics at the event.

Alicia Keys apparently could not resist using the occasion to transcend politics in a time of sorrow, by choosing to bash President Trump directly after “honoring” the legacy of Kobe Bryant.
