While given the opportunity to clarify his vicious comments targeting the Trump Administration following a Wednesday briefing on Iran, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) appeared Fox News’ “The Story” with Martha McCallum. During the appearance, Lee doubled down on his attack, going after top cabinet officials, claiming they had a “flippant attitude.”
Lee claimed he supports President Trump and that the 45th President is “the most respectful of all presidents during my lifetime of the commander-in-chief power,” despite his announcement that he will support Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), and his far-left bill to limit President Trump’s military power.
While explaining why he got so upset, Lee claimed high-ranking officials refused to answer his questions and blasted the briefers who gave him information on the strike, saying, he was offended by the “flippant attitude that they reflected, both with regard to the underlying facts on Friday’s attack and especially as they relate moving forward to any subsequent attack that we might undertake on Iran.”
Lee called out by name the briefers, dropping the names of Defense Secretary Mark Esper, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, CIA Director Gina Haspel, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley, who he claimed gave him attitude.
In his first attack on the Trump Administration, Lee called the classified briefing “insulting and demeaning,” characterizing it as the “worst military briefing” he’s ever had on Capitol Hill.
