On Thursday, following former HUD Secretary Julian Castro’s announcement to drop out of the 2020 race and Bernie Sanders’ massive $34 million cash haul, CNN’s Chris Cillizza ranked the most likely Democrats to win their party’s nomination.
Among the five candidates considered, all three of the top contenders are white men. Coming in fifth is Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who Cillizza says “has one of the best electability cases to make.”
Fourth most likely is Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who Cillizza said sent “increasingly desperate emails and tweets begging supporters to pony up just a little bit more money,” despite her “front runner” status.
Pete Buttigieg came in third as the most likely to clinch the Democrat nomination, who raised $25 million in the 4th quarter of 2019, and is “near the top of the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire.”
The candidate who CNN claims has the best chance to win the Democrat nomination is former Vice President Joe Biden, despite his multiple gaffes and questionable moments, including his inclination to sniff young girls and tell little children to touch his legs while in swimming pools. Cillizza contends that Biden
Bernie Sanders came in third, who raised over $34 million in the last fundraising quarter. However, it was no match for President Trump’s $46 million haul in the fourth fundraising quarter.
