Today, the United States House of Representatives passed President Trump’s United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on trade, formally replacing the failed trade Bill Clinton-era agreement, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
The bill, which was has sat in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s clutches for an entire year finally passed through the House on a bipartisan vote of 385-41.
Pelosi’s delay on the vote sparked harsh criticism from Republicans. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), said, “had [Democrats] not been obsessed with impeaching President Trump, we could have had this deal last year.”
According to the Washington Examiner, “A study of USMCA by the International Trade Commission found that it would have a modest positive effect on the economy. It would raise U.S. gross domestic product by $68 billion, about 0.35%, and add 176,000 jobs, an increase of 0.12% in employment nationwide. Its largest benefit to the economy is ending uncertainty over trade policy.”
The passage of the USMCA trade agreement will help America’s economy while giving President Trump another win to add to his long list of presidential accomplishments.
Was it the Presidents’s version or the changes Pelosi put in version????
