He went there: High-ranking Dem uses mom to bash Trump

On Thursday, while appearing on MSNBC, Rep. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM), who is Assistant House Speaker, brought up a conversation he had with his mom about President Trump going after Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) for holding Nancy Pelosi’s hand and proudly voting to impeach Trump after his years of support for her family.

Luján’s mom, Carmen Luján, allegedly said “shame on you, Mr. President,” to Trump’s remark at a Michigan rally in which he quipped about weather Rep. Dingell’s late husband former Rep. John Dingell was “looking down” or “looking up” in reference to his salvation. Trump did, however, say, “let’s assume he is looking down,” to infer Dingell is in Heaven.

Apparently that remark put a stick in Luján’s craw, so much so, that he felt the need to quote his mom on national television to get the point across. Luján also said, “President Trump: you’ll never be half the man that John Dingell was,” despite Dingell being a U.S. Rep. and President Trump winning the highest office in the land, set for another historic victory in 2020 with his reelection.

The Dingell family has held onto Michigan’s 12th District House seat for a consecutive 86 years and counting, making it the longest any dynasty has held onto a seat in congressional history.
