On Sunday during MSNBC’s “AM Joy” with Joy Reid, Maxine Waters claimed U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson does not have the “the background, the capability, [or] the intelligence” for his current role at HUD.
Waters’ comment comes after Sec. Carson said she is “shameless” and lacks “basic manners.” during a recent committee hearing where he testified.
During the television program, Waters said, “I sent him a letter, and he sent me a letter claiming that I had no manner, etc. I basically said to my staff, I really don’t have time to be bonded by somebody who does not know the difference between REO and OEO. This guy just doesn’t have the background, the capability, the intelligence to do the job. He does not know what he’s doing. He doesn’t care about this issue.”
Sec. Carson has yet to respond to Waters’ latest jab, but it’s sure raising eyebrows, as Ben Carson is a decorated neurosurgeon, who is the first person to separate conjoined twins. He also has over 60 honorary doctorate degrees from colleges across the nation, has written over 100 neuroscience papers, and holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yale University.
