WATCH: 2010 video shows Buttigieg speaking at Tea Party event, liberals say ‘he’s done’

A recent video, featuring Pete Buttigieg appeared on social media Tuesday, showing him addressing an Indiana Tea Party event back in 2010, as he ran unsuccessfully for Indiana state treasurer. Ryan Kight, a progressive activist, posted the video claiming the Tea Party is “racist.”

During the event, Buttigieg said, “there are some, especially in my party, who think that the Tea Party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican Party.” He continued, “But there are many others who believe that the Tea Party is motivated by real concerns about the direction of our government and the responsiveness of our government to citizens—and above all, a frustration with business as usual. That is what motivated me to run,”

Left-wing Twitter trolls are now going at the South Bend Mayor. Rewire.News editor Jodi Jacobson saying Buttigieg was “literally sidling up to racist Tea Partiers.”

Joe Biden Supporter, Lawrence County, TN Commissioner Chris D. Jackson wrote on Twitter, “We all know [Elizabeth Warren]  was a Republican until 1996. But did you know that just a few years ago [Pete Buttigieg] spoke at Tea Party event and praised them for their concerns about the ‘direction’ of the country?”

Mike Freeman, a writer for “Melanin” wrote Buttigieg is “done. Absolutely done. Not a single Dem of color gonna vote for a dude who backed the goddamn Tea Party.”

As polls show Buttigieg leading in Iowa, such as the Des Moines Register showing he’s polling at, this newly-resurfaced video may allow other frontrunners, such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT), or former Vice President Joe Biden to take the top spot in Iowa and win the state.
