On Tuesday, former Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) quit his longshot bid for the Republican nomination for president.
Sanford said, “You gotta be a realist, and what I did not anticipate is an impeachment,” adding he is suspending the campaign and will look for other ways to advance his stance against the deficit.
Sanford was a staunch critic of President Trump, complaining that the President is a “bully” for his work to save America from radical socialism, stating the Republican Party has “lost its way.”
The longshot candidate departing the Republican field leaves only President Trump, and NeverTrumpers former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld.
