Major city’s mayor appears to have just revealed Kamala Harris’ VP pick early

A potential slip-up by Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker may have inadvertently revealed Kamala Harris’ Vice Presidential choice as Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. Philly Mag’s Ernest Owens reported that Parker posted a campaign video endorsing Harris and Shapiro, with a caption suggesting Shapiro as the VP pick.

“Proud to be back with so many leaders from across our region supporting Kamala Harris for President and Josh Shapiro for VP!” Parker tweeted on Friday afternoon. The video ends with various Pennsylvanians voicing their support for Harris and Shapiro.

Although the tweet didn’t explicitly state Shapiro’s selection, it was reportedly posted prematurely. According to Owens, the tweet was meant to go live on Monday, following Harris’s official announcement of her Vice Presidential pick.

Owens tweeted, “Philly political sources have told me that a staffer connected with Mayor Cherelle Parker’s team accidentally posted the video today… It’s Josh Shapiro, y’all.”

This premature tweet has caused quite a stir. Speculation about Harris’ choice for Vice President has been rampant, with Shapiro being a prominent contender alongside others like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Shapiro has been a favorite, with betting odds strongly in his favor.

However, Shapiro’s potential candidacy has faced some opposition, particularly from the far-left, due to his stances on education and Israel. Some Democratic lawmakers argue that objections to Shapiro’s candidacy over his views on Israel are rooted in antisemitism, pointing out that his stance is not significantly different from other VP candidates.
