Poll sends death blow to Kamala Harris’ shot at presidency in 2024

A recent poll published on Friday indicates that 45th President Donald Trump holds a more substantial lead over Kamala Harris compared to his lead over Joe Biden. This development comes amid discussions within the Democratic Party about potentially replacing Biden with Harris as the presidential nominee for the 2024 election.

The HarrisX poll, conducted from June 28 to June 30, 2024, among 1,500 registered voters, reveals that Trump leads Harris by seven percentage points in a general election matchup. In contrast, Trump’s lead over Biden is narrower, at four percentage points. The poll has a margin of error of ± 2.5 percentage points.

Biden’s performance in the recent presidential debate has sparked conversations among Democratic lawmakers, staffers, strategists, and donors about the possibility of finding a replacement candidate. According to Reuters, there is a growing consensus that Harris would be the most straightforward option, as she could seamlessly take over the campaign funds and infrastructure already established by the Biden-Harris campaign.

Optically, bypassing Harris, who is a black woman, for another candidate could pose challenges, especially within the Democratic base. However, her tenure as vice president has been seen as lackluster, and she enjoys only a marginally higher popularity than Biden.

An analysis by ABC News 538 suggests that, despite the debates about her candidacy, Biden still has a better chance against Trump than Harris does.

These dynamics underscore the complex considerations Democrats face as they strategize for the upcoming election, weighing the benefits and drawbacks of potentially nominating Harris over Biden.

  1. Harris is not a Black Women. She is the product of an Indian mother and a 98% white Jamaican father.
