45th President Donald Trump is on the brink of a monumental leap toward reclaiming the White House on Super Tuesday, with predictions indicating a sweeping victory across all states up for contention on Tuesday but one — the leftist state of Vermont.
Trump’s quest for what he terms “the greatest political comeback in human history” in 2024 sees a significant milestone on Tuesday evening, potentially eliminating his primary Republican rival, Nikki Haley, the ex-U.S. Ambassador to the UN and former Governor of South Carolina. Despite Haley’s narrow win in Washington DC’s primary, it stands as her lone triumph against Trump’s dominant streak across other states, winning by substantial margins. She has, however, squeaked out a win in Vermont, an extremely liberal state akin to the district of Washington, D.C.
Trump won Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia on Tuesday. Haley is left with a measly 52 delegates total, while the primary winner must clinch 1,215. Haley has no path to victory in this race.
Trump’s victories span from the Iowa caucuses to the South Carolina primary, amassing a significant delegate lead.
On the Democratic front, Joe Biden remains the favorite for his party’s nomination, despite facing challenges from Rep. Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson. Biden’s performance in Michigan raised eyebrows, leading to a resurgence of Williamson’s campaign.
Super Tuesday’s down-ticket races also draw attention, especially in North Carolina, where both parties chose their gubernatorial nominees, with Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson winning the GOP primary. He will face Democrat Josh Stein in the general election.
In Texas, notable primary contests are underway, including challenges faced by Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales, who both defeated their primary challengers.
California’s primaries hold significance for several congressional seats and the race to fill Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s vacant seat, with Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff and GOP baseball legend Steve Garvey headed for the November general election.
People saw the whinny girl who -if challenged- would break down and cry.
