Hollywood celebs turn on Biden ahead of 2024 election

Joe Biden is facing increasing challenges to his popularity as the 2024 presidential election approaches. Recent polls indicate a shift in favor of Republicans like 45th President Donald Trump in crucial swing states, reflecting dissatisfaction among voters with Biden’s handling of both the economy and the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Notably, several celebrity endorsers from Biden’s 2020 campaign have expressed frustrations and, in some cases, hinted at a potential shift toward supporting Trump. Rapper Cardi B, known for her progressive politics, criticized Biden over budget cuts affecting New York City, announcing she would no longer endorse any president.

Cardi B specifically addressed the budget cuts in a video posted on Instagram, highlighting a $120 million cut affecting schools, public libraries, and the police department, along with a $5 million cut in sanitation. She strongly condemned Biden, questioning his priorities as he claims the U.S. “can fund two wars” while New York City faces severe budget reductions.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, another prominent Biden endorser, expressed a lack of support for Biden among his friends during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. Johnson emphasized the importance of fostering a culture where disagreements are acceptable.

Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict has further fueled criticism and division. While he has received support for backing Israel’s right to defend itself and providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, some progressive Democrats and celebrities like comedian Michael Rapaport have expressed dissatisfaction. Rapaport even suggested he might vote for Trump in a hypothetical rematch, criticizing Biden’s stance on the Israel-Hamas war.

Contrastingly, over 300 celebrities signed a letter urging Biden to support a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, reflecting the diverse opinions on this issue. Biden has supported a temporary halt in fighting for the transfer of Israelis held by Hamas but has not called for a broader ceasefire.

Actor Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role in Sex and the City, took a distinctive approach by announcing her participation in a five-day hunger strike to protest what she perceives as Biden’s involvement in funding the “mass killing and starvation of thousands of innocent Palestinians.”
