On Wednesday, CNN is set to hold a presidential town hall with 45th President Donald J. Trump to talk about the 2024 race. CNN’s nearest left-wing competitor MSNBC is roasting the network for agreeing to the event.
During the network’s show The ReidOut with Joy Reid, Angelo Carusone from the far-left research group Media Matters said, questioned CNN’s motives.
“Republicans, Democrats, insurrectionists — everybody’s on the air,” said Reid.
“I get a little uncomfortable with the false equivalencies and false balance,” responded Carusone, claiming the far-left network was trying to “mollify” right-wing critics. He claimed giving Trump the airtime was comparable to “a laundering.”
“It feels to me that this is a pretty open attempt by CNN to push itself to the right and make itself attractive, and show its belly to MAGA and to conservatives hoping that they will tune in,” Reid added.
Puntid Charlie Sykes jumped in and claimed the appearance on CNN was “horrifically bad judgment” for the network, adding, “Let’s be clear about this. This is not journalism. This is entertainment.”

The town hall will be aired live on CNN at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. It will be moderated by the network’s Kaitlan Collins.
