This unlikely candidate being urged to run against NYC Mayor Eric Adams

According to a report from Breitbart, disgraced ex-congressman and convicted sex offender Anthony Weiner is being convinced by friends to run for the mayorship of New York City against incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, a more moderate Democrat.

The politician who fell — hard — from grace after a sex scandal where he sent nude photos to multiple women in 2011, at first denying the accusations and then coming clean, saying in a press conference he “exchanged messages and photos of an explicit nature with about six women over the last three years.”

Despite insisting he would not resign, a photo of himself was leaked, and he abdicated on June 21, 2011.

Now, the ex-congressman and disgraced former politician is being wooed to make a political comeback by friends, including Curtis Sliwa, the former GOP mayoral candidate for New York City against incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat.

“He has been encouraged to run for office by me and others,” Sliwa said on his 77 WABC radio show that he hosts with Weiner.  He said, “He knows the moderate path to save the city,” while putting down far-left Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Breitbart further reported:

Weiner’s sexting habits did not end with “Weignergate,” as the scandal came to be known. When he tried to stage a political comeback in 2013 by running for New York City mayor, further details came to light — this time about his sexting more women under the alias “Carlos Danger.” Those other women included 22-year-old Sydney Leathers.

In May 2017, Weiner pleaded guilty to sending obscene material to a 15-year-old girl and was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison. Following his release, Weiner was also made to register as a sex offender following his release from prison in May 2019.

Now the sex offender could run for another office, with the blessing of Silwa and others who may want to see a political comeback for Weiner.
