Two Police Officers injured after car rams U.S. Capitol barricade

The AP reported on Friday afternoon, “A car rammed a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol on Friday afternoon, injuring two Capitol Police officers and leading to the driver being shot.”

“At least one officer was in serious condition, while the driver was in critical condition. The crash and shooting happened at a checkpoint near the Capitol as Congress is on recess,” wrote the AP.

Jacqui Heinrich, reporter for Fox News, wrote on Twitter with a video, “Large police presence and two stretchers being brought out.” 

“The driver’s door and trunk were also open as authorities gathered around a band of yellow caution tape. There were unconfirmed initial reports of a shooting,” reports the New York Post.

According to the Associated Press, “U.S. Capitol Police say all Capitol buildings were being locked down “due to an external security threat” and staff members were told they could not enter or exit the buildings.”

UPDATE: The New York Post reports that the suspect has been identified as Noah Green, 25, Noah Green, 25, who may have been living in Virginia, described himself as a “Follower of Farrakhan” on his Facebook page, in reference to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. He is a Nation of Islam devotee from Indiana, according to reports and his social media, reports the Post.
