Sarah Huckabee Sanders announces run for Arkansas governor

On Monday, former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced her candidacy to be the next governor of Arkansas.

The 38-year-old former Trump Administration official said in her announcement video, “I took on the media, the radical left, and their cancel culture, and I won.”

“Everything we love about America is at stake, and with the radical left now in control of Washington, your governor is your last line of defense,” Huckabee Sanders said. “In fact, your governor must be on the front line. So today, I announce my candidacy for governor of Arkansas and ask for your prayers and your support.”

“My opponents do everything in their power to destroy me, but I will not apologize for who I am or who I’m fighting for. I’m fighting for you. I will not retreat, I will not surrender, and I will not bow down to the Radical Left–not now, not ever,” added Huckabee Sanders.

Huckabee Sanders’ campaign website reads, “Sarah worked closely with the president, battling with the media, working with lawmakers and CEOs, and accompanying the president on every foreign trip, including dozens of meetings with foreign leaders. Sarah is only the third woman – and the very first mom – to ever hold the job of White House Press Secretary.”

Huckabee Sanders’ father, Mike Huckabee, served as Arkansas’ 45th governor from 1996 to 2007. Huckabee Sanders will battle Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge in the state’s Republican primary. During her video announcement, she emphasized the need for “a new generation of leadership” as an outsider who never held political office.
