Pew poll: support for BLM suffered double-digit decline over summer

According to a new Pew Research Center poll, support for the “Black Lives Matter” movement has suffered a double-digit decline over the summer.

The movement had a 67% approval rating, according to the poll in June, but the most recent poll now shows only 55% now strongly or somewhat support the movement.

Among Republicans, support tumbled from 37% in June to just 16% in September, as violent riots continue across the nation and more light is shined on the movement’s leaders.

Support from Democrats dropped from 92 percent in June to 88 percent in September.

According to the New York Post :

The sentiment has also dwindled among white and Hispanic adults. Sixty percent of white Americans said they strongly or somewhat supported BLM in June versus 45 percent in September, while 77 percent of Hispanics supported BLM three months ago, compared to 66 percent now.

The movement, however, is still overwhelmingly backed by black Americans — with nearly nine out of 10 saying they support it.

The survey was conducted among 10,093 adults in the US between Sept. 8 and 13.
