WHO director-general praises President Trump’s ‘political commitment’ in fighting COVID-19

Today, the World Health Organization’s director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised President Trump’s “political commitment” and “leadership” while asked about the President’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Tedros said, “Fighting this pandemic needs political commitment and commitment at the highest level possible. And the President’s commitment, you’ve already seen it, and the world [has] seen it, and that kind of leadership is very, very important….”

“But not only the whole-of-government approach, but the other [things] like expanding testing and the other recommendations we are making are also in play, and he takes that seriously and that is what we see.”

Tedros, who said that he and the commander-in-chief had spoken recently, continued, “I believe that kind of political commitment and political leadership can bring change or can stop this pandemic.”

President Trump retweeted the general director’s comments, writing, “The world is at war with a hidden enemy. WE WILL WIN!”
