On Sunday, one day after former Vice President Joe Biden won the Democrat South Carolina primary, he joined CNN’s Jake Tapper to discuss the win and foreign policy.
Among the topics that came up in the interview, Biden was asked about President Trump’s recent peace deal with the Taliban, leading to a safer Middle East.
But during the interview, Biden falsely stated, “It’s very important that you have a commitment from the Taliban that, in fact, they are not going to support Al-Qaeda, they are not going to support those organizations that use… uh… uh… the… the eastern… western Pakistan, and uh… and Afghanistan to launch attacks against the United States.”
Tapper intervened, telling Biden, “I’m sorry to interrupt sir, the deal does say that the Taliban will not aid Al-Qaeda.”
Biden responded, “I… I’m sorry… I… again, I have not rad the deal. I just know what has been reported. I… I was under the impression that we had begun to draw down, period. Whether that has or not been demonstrated yet.”
