On Wednesday, after Sen. Willard “Mitt” Romney (R-UT) was the only Republican senator to buck his party and vote with Democrats to convict President Trump, the President did not hold back.
Hours after the historic acquittal vote, President Trump released a scathing ad on Twitter, mercilessly going after Romney. The ad brought up Romney’s failed presidential run, as well as his attempts to “infiltrate Trump’s administration as Secretary of State.”
The ad cites a CNN article saying Romney “has emerged as the face of the resistance to President Trump,” and exposed as a “Democrat secret asset.”
On Thursday, President Trump once again roasted Romney on Twitter, writing, “Had failed presidential candidate [Mitt Romney] devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts!”
