National Prayer Breakfast: Trump scolds Pelosi, Romney for using faith to justify wrongdoing

During his remarks, President Trump scolded politicians for using their faith to justify their wrong actions, with targeted attacks at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Willard “Mitt” Romney (R-UT).

Trump began by saying, “As everybody knows, my family, our great country, and your President have been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people. They have done everything possible to destroy us, and by so doing, very badly hurt our nation. They know what they are doing is wrong, but they put themselves far ahead of our great country.”

On Wednesday, Romney voted with radical Democrats to convict President Trump for “abuse of power,” using his faith as an excuse for the deflection. He said, “The allegations made in the articles of impeachment are very serious. As a senator-juror, I swore an oath before God to exercise impartial justice. I am profoundly religious. My faith is at the heart of who I am.”

Pelosi said she’s “praying for the President” amid her impeachment inquiry based on no facts and no substance.

To address the two liberal politicians, Trump said, “Weeks ago and again yesterday, courageous Republican politicians and leaders had the wisdom, fortitude, and strength to do what everyone knows is right. I don’t like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong. Nor do I like people who say ‘I pray for you’ when they know that is not so. So many people have been hurt and we can’t let that go on.”

President Trump is expected to address the nation later today from the White House.
