This Sunday, Fox News’ Chris Wallace will host a town hall with 2020 Democrat candidate and Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg ahead of the Iowa caucuses
“We are pleased to host Mayor Buttigieg for the second time this election cycle for a timely town hall in the influential state of Iowa,” Jay Wallace, president and executive editor of Fox News Media, said in a statement. “Once again, we are looking forward to providing our millions of viewers with an insightful discussion ahead of the first major contest of the primary season.”
During the last town hall Wallace had with Buttigieg, the candidate bashed Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingram. He said, “You know, a lot of folks in my Party were critical of me for even going this with Fox News … and I get that, especially when you see what’s going on with some of the opinion hosts on this network. I mean, you got Tucker Carlson saying immigrants make America dirty; when you’ve got Laura Ingraham comparing detention centers with children in cages to summer camps — summer camps….”
In the next breath, he based Fox News as a whole, claiming, “There is a reason why anybody has to swallow hard or think twice before participating in this media ecosystem.”
Wallace did not respond to the attacks on the network, instead, moving to a commercial break.
Unlike his colleague Bill Hemmer, who vigorously defends Fox News when guests bash the network. Last year, a New York state assemblyman bashed Tucker Carlson and the network as a whole, to which Hemmer sternly said, “Listen, I didn’t bring you on to bash our network, so with all due respect, why don’t we just keep it on topic?”
Chris Wallace bashed President Trump last year, saying, “I believe that President Trump is engaged in the most direct sustained assault on freedom of the press in our history.”
